Private Academy for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine
The Private Academy DGG promotes continuing education and training in the field of vascular surgery and vascular medicine, supports networking in clinical research in vascular surgery, and organises the certification of vascular centres and vascular surgery courses.
It was founded in 2006 by the German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine, a structure unique in Europe for a medical association.
The courses offered by the Private Academy aim to improve the continuing education of vascular surgeons. Courses are also offered for specialists, such as tutorials for learning new techniques. The courses focus on continuing education content that not all clinics are able to provide. Particular emphasis is therefore placed on education and training in endovascular techniques and non-invasive diagnostics – recognised by the respective state medical associations (CME points) wherever possible. The DGG Private Academy also certifies courses offered by other providers. This certification gives course participants the assurance that they are participating in continuing education programmes with appropriate content.
The Private Academy DGG organises the sought-after continuing education programme Vascular Assistant DGG. Each year, around 20 participants receive further training, which makes them even better qualified for work in vascular medicine.
For quality assurance purposes, the DGG certifies vascular centres as "Recognised Vascular Centres" – some in conjunction with the German Society for Angiology and/or the German Society for Radiology. The Private Academy DGG coordinates the process from application to certification. The Certification Section is responsible for the content.
